I will confess I am easing back into post-holiday reality after the shock of no longer being able to justify eating fudge whenever I want because, “it’s the holidays!” Thus the reason for this note arriving on Friday and not the usual Wednesday 😉
But we are most certainly back at work, including a new project to help several rural county economic development entities in eastern Washington with their efforts to secure funding for infrastructure and community development projects. PRWA staff assisted Adams, Whitman and Lincoln county associate development organizations (ADOs) with identifying potential funding sources for multiple projects last spring, and we are now working with them on grant submissions to hopefully fund some of those projects.
The NWRIS-WA Hub core team has also selected six initial communities to be part of our hub-and-spoke approach to help rural communities with complex or multiple issues. We are working to develop a memorandum of understanding for this process and will be contacting the leaders of those communities near the end of January to offer our coordinated assistance in helping them move their infrastructure and community development projects through to completion. We look forward to sharing those projects publicly this spring for the communities that opt to accept our assistance.
We may also have a few other big announcements in early 2025…and you’ll be the first to hear about them.
Here’s to a very busy and productive year!
Take care,
Jody
