The Rural Exchange presented by PRWA and WSU Extension

Four of Washington’s worst wildfire seasons have occurred in the last 12 years, including 2026 which is still quite active. We are already seeing the likely impact of a Super El Niño on the 2027 season, with record high temperatures forecasted for Eastern Washington in October and predictions of below-average precipitation statewide this winter.

Join us October 28th for The Rural Exchange presented by PRWA and WSU Extension to learn what your community can do to mitigate wildfire risk and respond to disaster when it strikes.

We’re partnering with WSU Extension to host connected small in-person gatherings around the state to share information across Washington and talk about ways rural communities can prepare for wildfires and minimize the risk to your town and its residents. A separate topic will be how to engage your residents and build capacity and resilience by establishing a Community Emergency Response Team. You’ll also have time to talk with mayors and staff from rural communities in your region about how rural towns, especially those that are geographically isolated, can help one another both before and after a disaster strikes.

Seating is limited to 20 people at most locations, so find the one nearest you and sign up to spend some time learning about how you can help your town be as ready as possible for the 2027 wildfire season.

Lunch will be provided for registered attendees. (*This event is FREE.)
